Once you’ve submitted your application, your chosen training providers will decide whether to make you an offer. Find out what happens next.

What happens next?

Once we’ve received your application, we’ll send you a welcome email.

  • This will contain your Personal ID and username for to check your application's progress online in your UCAS Hub.
  • Your application will be sent to your chosen training providers online, normally within 24 hours.
One key thing to note is that you do not have to reply until you have received all your offers. When you do have all your offers, you’ll be given a deadline to reply in your application..

What’s happened to the skills test?

The skills test is no longer part of the entry requirements for Teacher Training in England. Instead, the DfE are replacing the skills test with a new approach, designed with (and delivered by) providers. The new approach will allow providers to work with candidates to help them develop their literacy and numeracy skills throughout their course, if needed. However, trainees who remain unable to meet the required level of literacy and numeracy skills will not reach Qualified Teacher Status.

Communications from your chosen training provider

After you send your application, here are the types of communications you can expect from your chosen training provider:

  • You should get an acknowledgement that the training provider has received your application.
  • Training providers may request additional information from you. This could include:
    • a completed online Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) or Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) form
    • additional ID and a photo
    • further details of your work and/or voluntary experience
    • qualification certificates
    • predicted grades
  • If a training provider requests additional information, they’ll let you know why and when they need it.
  • After they’ve considered your application, the training provider should let you know:
    • whether they’ll provide feedback, positive or negative, and at what stage, or whether you’ll need to request it
    • how feedback will be provided
  • Training providers may have additional policies that could impact their ability to honour their offer – for example, if you breach their fitness to practice policy. Where these policies operate, you should have access to this information. If an offer is withdrawn under these circumstances, providers should be clear about why the decision has been taken.
  • Your training provider should have a clear appeals and complaints procedure, which should be freely available.


You can cancel a choice or your whole application.

  • If it's just one choice you'd like to withdraw, do this in your application (as long as the training provider hasn't sent us its decision yet).
  • If you’ve changed your mind about applying to teacher training, you can cancel your application and get a refund. Please note, we will only refund applications cancelled within 14 days of being submitted to us, so please check the date in your welcome email to verify this.
  • If you are cancelling within 14 days of submitting your application and would like a refund, please call us or complete the cancellation form
  • If it’s been more than 14 days since you submitted your application, you can still withdraw it in at any time. But no refund will be issued.
