Demystifying conservatoire applications with Conservatoires UK
Tuesday 04 June 2019
12:25 - 13:25
Breakout session
Open to all
Summary
Conservatoires in the UK offer world-class professional training in music, dance, drama, and technical theatre subjects. But the conservatoire application process is often not well understood by students or their advisers. This session aims to demystify the process, helping you to understand what a conservatoire is, and when it might be right for your students. We will explain the separate UCAS Conservatoires application, deadlines, and audition process, so you feel confident in guiding applicants.
The presentation will be followed by a panel session Q&A with representatives from a range of UK conservatoires.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the session, delegates will understand:
- the differences between conservatoire training and university study, and how to advise their students on which path is right for them
- the differences between the UCAS Conservatoires and UCAS Undergraduate applications
- how to help students complete a competitive application
- how to prepare students for auditions
