In this session delegates will engage in an active discussion about the Personal Statement and how it can be developed and reformed to be more valuable to applicants as well as useful to providers. We know that applicants value the opportunity to tell providers about themselves, but is a free-form single statement the best way to do this? Could and should the structure of the Personal Statement change? What can be done to ensure that advice and guidance around the Personal Statement are fair and accessible? How can the perception that the Personal Statement gives an unfair advantage to privileged applicants be addressed? And how can we answer the challenge of the use of the Personal Statement across and within providers being so variable? Come to this session to help UCAS shape its thinking and direction in this high-profile element of the application.
