At a taster webinar, you will meet a member of the academic team who will explain these aspects of our offer and more. There will an opportunity for you to ask questions to both current students and academic staff via online chat.
Opening times
4 October 2025 - 11:00 to 12:00
The title of this talk will be "Using AI for Medical Image Analysis for Assisting Cancer Diagnosis".
The Abstract is as follows:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, especially deep learning, have significantly influenced a wide range of fields, including Medical Image Analysis. Techniques like convolutional neural networks and transformers enable AI to extract meaningful features from medical images such as MRI, ultrasound, CT scans, and X-rays, allowing the development of highly accurate diagnostic models. In recent years, these AI-driven systems have shown great effectiveness in detecting various types of cancer at early stages, achieving diagnostic performance comparable to that of human specialists. By supporting clinicians with faster and more precise diagnoses, these tools contribute to timely and more effective treatments, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes and quality of life.
