Course summary

This is one of several subject combinations available in our BSc (Honours) Computing & IT and a second subject (Q67). Combining computing & IT with mathematics gives you powerful analytical and technical skills that are in high demand. You’ll build firm foundations in both subjects in the early stages, then deepen your understanding of mathematical methods and modelling alongside a computing focus of your choice. Through your studies, you’ll gain problem-solving, data analysis and software skills, and complete a computing project. On completion, you'll emerge well-prepared for roles in data science, technology, finance and research.

Modules

Course Modules

This computing and IT degree has three stages, each comprising 120 credits.

In Stage 1: You’ll study two 30-credit fundamental computing & IT modules and two 30-credit mathematics modules providing the essential foundation to study maths at a higher level.

In Stage 2: You’ll choose one of four computing and IT focus areas from communications and networking, computer science, software development and web development, and choose a 60-credit pure mathematics or applied mathematics module.

In Stage 3: You’ll choose one 30-credit computing & IT module, choose 60 credits of mathematics modules, and complete your degree with a 30-credit computing & IT project module.
