Summary
Artificial intelligence is reshaping how businesses think, operate and grow. At Southampton, you will explore how emerging technologies and business strategy come together, and how you can use them to drive innovation.

This degree gives you a strong foundation in management, marketing, finance and analytics, alongside a growing understanding of how AI can be applied to real business challenges. You will learn how organisations use data and technology to improve decision-making, create new opportunities and stay competitive.
From machine learning to digital transformation, you will study the technologies shaping the future of work. You will also develop the ability to work across technical and business teams, while considering the ethical and social impact of AI.

In your third year, you will complete a paid industry placement. This is your opportunity to gain practical experience, apply your knowledge in a professional setting and build confidence for your future career. Our award-winning placements team will support you in finding opportunities, preparing for interviews and throughout your placement year.

Further information
You can choose to extend your degree with a study abroad year or an industrial placement in your third year. Graduates are prepared for roles across business, technology and consultancy, with the skills to work at the intersection of AI and business strategy in a rapidly evolving global market.

Scottish Higher

We normally consider applicants who offer at least 1 Advanced Higher. Applicants presenting with only Highers will be considered on a case by case basis. Where Highers are taken over two years it might be expected that higher grades are achieved, particularly in any specific subjects required. For example, S5 – S6 (2 years): AABBB (A in specific subject) or S6 (1 year): ABBBB (A in specific subject).

Unless a more advanced level (Higher or Advanced Higher) is specified in the stated entry requirements, all applicants will be required to have achieved a pass in Mathematics and English at Standard Grade, Grade 3 or National 5, Grade C, the equivalent of GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4"

A

The University of Southampton values the Extended Project Qualification. If you are taking an EPQ in addition to 3 A levels, you will receive the following alternative offer in addition to the standard A-level offer: ABB plus grade A in the EPQ.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017)

All applicants would be required to have achieved a grade of O4 in Mathematics and English, the equivalent of GCSE Grade C/ Grade 4.

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal

Cambridge Pre-U's can be used in combination with other qualifications such as A Levels to achieve the equivalent of the typical offer.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Applicants must hold GCSE English language (or GCSE English) (minimum grade 4/C) and mathematics (minimum grade 6*/B).

* Grade 5 in mathematics (in the new reformed GCSE's) can be accepted if an applicant has grade B in A levels Maths, Physics, Economics, Geography, Psychology or Business.

Please note we cannot accept a grade 5 in mathematics if you are studying other qualifications, the requirement is a grade 6.

OCR Cambridge Technical Diploma in Business is accepted with DD if combined with one suitable A level with grade A. If your OCR is not in Business, we strongly suggest you contact us before applying.

OCR Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma

Distinction from an OCR Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma in Business if combined with two suitable A levels with grades A's.

We welcome applicants with other qualifications eg. European Baccalaureate. You will be expected to attain an equivalent standard to the A level applicant.
