Course summary

Our BSc (Hons) in Social Work provides cutting-edge approaches to teaching and learning. By engaging you in a critical and meaningful approach to practice, the course will provide you with the knowledge, values and skills needed to begin to recognise and address some of the most difficult social problems facing individuals, communities and societies today.

This course comprises periods of academic study and practice learning in a social work or social care setting. These practice learning opportunities enable you to safely apply and develop the learning that has been advanced in practice.

This programme is approved by Social Work England.

Modules

Course Modules

• Year one: Introduction to Social Work, Contemporary Issues in Social Work, Law and Policy for Social Work, Skills for Social Work, Human Growth and Development, and Theories and Interventions 1.

• Year two: First Placement, Research Methods in Social Work, Skills 2, Social Work with Adults, and Social Work with Children and Families.

• Year three: Developing Skills and Competencies in Social Work Practice, Final Placement, Skills 3

Assessment method

Assessment methods will vary and include written assignments, assessment of practice, case studies and presentations.
