Course summary

The BA (Hons) Creative Industries Management course encompasses a diverse range of creative disciplines and management practices to prepare you for a career in the creative industries. You will gain knowledge of core business practices for successful creative businesses that include strategy, marketing, finance and entrepreneurship.

The BA (Hons) Creative Industries Management course examines successful business management strategies to develop the essential knowledge and skills for the creative industries. As a specialist arts university we have the resources and expertise to provide you with a learning environment which will give opportunities to experience creative processes themselves through experimentation and practical activities. There are also excellent opportunities for collaboration with students on related courses in marketing as well as those studying subjects across art and design, fashion, still and moving image, writing and the performing arts.

Modules

Year one - This will examine business administration and management to understand how businesses operate within the context of specialist creative industries. You will explore the key theories and practices within project management, data analytics, markets, accounting and finance to develop your understanding of strategic and effective approaches to business management.

Year two - You will examine the wider cultural and ethical aspects of business practices alongside recognising and understanding the role and potential impact that evolving technology may have on future growth and sustainability. You will gain an essential understanding of the legal aspects of business such as intellectual property, contracts and copyright. You will be encouraged to consider global perspectives within specialist areas and disciplines to recognise potential business opportunities.

Year three - You will develop business plans that encompass creative business strategy and planning through the development of a personalised creative business project that considers budgets, resources and time management. Throughout your course you will have opportunities to experiment in various creative processes of media, screen, print and performance in order to give you an understanding of, and insight into, the practical operations involved in creative businesses.

UCAS Tariff - 104 - 120 points

Leeds Arts University encourages applications from talented and motivated students. The University uses a wide range of methods to assess applications, these can include:

If you are successful in your application an offer will be made to you, if conditional we will ask for between 104 and 120 UCAS tariff points from any combination of A Levels/T Level/Extended Diploma/Foundation Diploma. The expected subjects will depend on the course you are applying for.

All applicants must have GCSE English Language or Literature at Grade 4/Grade C or above, or English Functional Skills Level 2 at Pass.

Applicants for this course do not need to submit examples of work.

You’ll need to have passed GCSE English Language or English Literature at Grade 4/Grade C or above, or English Functional Skills Level 2 at Pass. For mature students, an Access to Higher Education qualification in art and design will also be acceptable to demonstrate English language ability.

Currently studying a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design?
If you are currently studying a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design, you will have already achieved level 3 qualifications which carry UCAS tariff points. When considering your application, we will, collate your achieved tariff points with those you are predicted. You will also need a GCSE grade 4/ Grade C or above in English Language or English Literature or equivalent, or Functional Skills level 2 at a pass.
