Course summary
The BA Theology and Liberal Arts programme brings theology into dialogue with humanities, arts, and the sciences. It introduces students to other disciplines of interest, including philosophy, ethics, history, literature, music, psychology, and sociology. It will equip students with intellectual and spiritual formation, enabling them to relate God’s Word to God’s world and serve society as engaged, thoughtful Christians.
This programme places Christian discipleship and spiritual formation at its core. Students will not only gain a strong grounding in biblical studies and theology but also develop the skills to engage with secular culture through compassion, mission and justice.
The core theology modules are based on the strength of our flagship BA Theology. In addition, there are a broad range of theology & liberal arts modules, including Philosophical Theology, Theology, Imagination, and the Arts, and Science-Engaged Theology.
Modules
Study Modes
Applications for the Theology and Liberal Arts programme are invited at certificate, diploma or degree level. This programme can be studied full-time or part-time.
On-campus: Residential or non-residential. Lectures are timetabled Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm, delivered over three terms in two semesters from October-June.
Online: The BA Theology and Liberal Arts programme can be studied fully online, delivered in three semesters from October to July. Students can study together in timetabled blocks, interacting in discussion forums with module tutors.
Mixed Mode: All our undergraduate programmes, including BA Theology and Liberal Arts can be studied in mixed mode, with Theology modules taken online.
Time Commitment
For full-time students, it is expected that you will be able to commit around 40 hours per week to your studies.
For students studying on campus lectures will take place between 9am – 6pm on Mondays to Fridays. This normally equates to around 12 hours of lectures and 30 hours of personal study time.
Two practical placement modules are completed at levels 4 and 5, and a final dissertation project at level 6.
For students studying online we also recommend a commitment of 40 hours per week to enable you to complete the necessary work.
For part-time students it is expected that you will be able to commit around 20 hours per week to your studies. For students studying on campus lectures will take place between 9am – 5pm on Mondays & Tuesdays in Year 1 and Thursdays & Fridays in Year 2. For students studying online we also recommend a commitment of 20 hours per week to enable you to complete the necessary work.
Full-time students are expected to complete the BA in 3 years. Part-time students are expected to complete the BA in 6 years.

Additional fee information
Tuition fees are £9,525 per year, comprising £7,850 in programme fees and £1,675 in amenities fees. Amenities fees apply only to students studying onsite or in mixed mode.
Programme fees
Cover tuition for the entire academic year and are non-refundable. Students who withdraw during the year remain liable for the full annual tuition fee. Included within these fees are registration and academic administration costs paid by London School of Theology (LST) to Middlesex University for the validation of LST programmes.
Amenities fees
Cover access to school facilities, library services (both on-campus and online), as well as IT and administrative support. Students studying fully online are exempt from paying amenities fees.

Scholarships and bursaries 1
London School of Theology offers a range of annual scholarships to students who demonstrate a financial need, exceptional academic ability/potential, or both. London School of Theology also offers bursaries for students in financial need, but these are only available to students once they have commenced their studies with us. Our Raising Theologians Awards are available at undergraduate and postgraduate level and across all programmes. They include scholarships covering fees and/or accommodation for one or more years. To apply for any scholarship with London School of Theology you should already have been accepted a place to study with us. To qualify for an undergraduate financial need-based award, you must fulfil the following criteria: 1. Have an annual family income as assessed by Student Finance England at below £35,001 2. Not be in receipt of a tuition fee loan and maintenance loan from Student Finance England Our scholarships are targeted at students most in need. LST will pay additional support for £1000 to students who meet the above criteria and one or more of the following: 1. Students who are carers, care leavers or at risk of becoming homeless 2. Mature students aged 21 or over at the start of their undergraduate course 3. Students in receipt of the Parents Learning Allowance, Childcare Grant, Adult Dependents Grant or increased student maintenance loan from the UK Government as part of their student support package 4. Students in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Disability Living Allowance (DLA). Other scholarships may be available, if funds allow.
