Progression Bursary 2026/2027

Scholarship information

This bursary is for students enrolled on USW Partner College provision who top-up to their final years of study at a USW campus. The bursary is worth £1,000 for full-time students and £500 for part-time students. You will receive the bursary in your first term by the end of November 2026. 

Who is eligible? 

To be eligible you need to meet the following criteria: 

  • Successfully complete a University of South Wales accredited HND or foundation degree with one of the colleges listed below in Summer 2026, specifically:
    • Bridgend College
    • Cardiff and Vale College
    • Coleg Gwent
    • Coleg Y Cymoedd
    • The College, Merthyr Tydfil
    • NPTC Group
    • Gower College Swansea 
  • Apply for a full or part-time eligible undergraduate honours degree entering year 2** or 3***, or a 1-year full or part-time eligible top up degree based at a University of South Wales campus starting in September 2025 by the 1st July 2026
  • Apply for the progression bursary by 1st August 2026
  • Be a UK, home student liable for the UK home rate of tuition fees.
  • Be enrolled on a full or part-time eligible course at point of payment

*** This includes joint delivery with Coleg Gwent for BSc Veterinary Nursing Science (top-up) and BSc Animal Health and Welfare (top up)  

How do I apply? 

The application process will open from February 2026 onwards. Once you have applied to enter year two** or year three of a full or part-time eligible undergraduate degree or one-year full or part-time eligible top up degree and been offered a place, you will be sent a link by email to apply for the bursary online.  

University of South Wales scholarships and bursaries are offered on the basis that they are potentially subject to change. The University also reserves the right to limit the number of scholarships and bursaries available.
