Hey everyone! I study English Literature and I am currently in my second year. I have an interest in children's literature, looking to go into publishing as a career. I am an open book and would love to help you answer any queries you may have, as I have been in your position and know how daunting it can all feel. Audrey
Durham University
BA English Literature (Q300)
Hi! I'm Audrey, a year 2 English Literature student from Hong Kong. My college is St. Mary's, and I highly recommend it - most of the friends I've made here are from Mary's as well, the community is very nice in general (I'm currently involved in the Book Club, but there are so many more societies!), and the cherry blossoms are beautiful in the spring. I'm open to discussing anything about Durham, from adjusting to the teaching and learning methods from a non-A-levels background, to the collegiate system, to food and weather (it actually rains less than you think). I'm also one of the student representatives for the English Department, so feel free to approach me with any questions about the degree!

University of East Anglia UEA
Literature and Creative Writing
3rd year English Literature student currently finishing my studies at UEA and set to begin my MA in Archiving at UCL next year. Working towards a career in Archiving and Record Preservation.
Particularly interests in Critical Theory and philosophy. Passionate about exploring the intersections between literature, politics, music, visual art and our collective histories. The written word is not dead or static but full of life which it gives to us, which is why I feel the study of Literature is so significant.
I also enjoy creative writing as a way of developing my passion for reading, and enjoying an appreciation for my favourite books which is interactive and participatory.
In my spare time I boulder at Rock Punk Climbing Cafe, located on Magdalen Street in Norwich, and Highball Climbing Centre, just a bus ride away from the City Centre. I love the element of problem solving involved in completing difficult routes and advancing towards harder challenges with a renewed set of physical and mental skills.
I also find that Climbing is a sport that has helped me immensely around difficulties stemming from complete blindness in my left eye, such as strengthening depth perception and hand eye coordination. It is something I'd recommend very highly to anyone with impaired eye-sight (and everyone else too!)
I am also well acquainted with the DSA process by virtue of my blindness so please do message me if you're curious or facing any troubles with regard to disability allowance and support!
I have also skateboarded for a number of years and enjoy a street skate sesh or a trip to Eaton Park whenever I can :)

Biomedical Science
I completed my BSc Biomedical Science here in Essex, and now I am studying an MSD in Cell and Molecular Biology, specifically Virology. My career plans are to find a job in industry and maybe pursue a PhD later in life. I am originally Lithuanian but have lived in the UK since I was 17, so I am a 'home' student but can happily answer any questions from international students (hopefully some Lithuanians 😉). If you are interested in a research degree please feel free to reach out as I can give a lot of insight! Outside of university, I love crafts, going to the gym to stay active, trying out new food and keeping in touch with my friends, as research life can get very busy 😄

Anastasiia
University of Essex
Art History
I am a 28 y.o. PhD student with a background in Museum Studies (St Petersburg State University of Culture) and Curatorial Research (St Petersburg State University). My PhD is sponsored by Essex's Human Rights Centre. I'm here to help you start your academic journey with the UoE.
Ask me anything about PGR studies at Essex (especially PHAIS), financial support for international students, accommodation, life on and off campus (especially cultural events, e.g. museums, theatres, etc.) and what it's like to live in the UK/Colchester (e.g. what's there for people from my (and probably yours!) part of the globe, such as where we celebrate Orthodox Easter!).
Fun facts about me: travelled to 30+ countries; have a cute little chinchilla named Pyshka 🍩; learnt that all stereotypes about British weather are true yet still enjoy it here.
