LLB Law (M101)
Hi! I’m a first-year student studying Law here at Durham University. I’m from Preston, Lancashire and I am a liver in at Stephenson College. I am a member of the Women in Law Society, the Horrible Histories Society and the DU Judo club. In my spare time, I love watching old 90s and 2000s Tv shows as well as cheesy romantic comedies with my flatmates! I’m really passionate about martial arts, especially Japanese Ju Jitsu which I have a brown belt in and I’m currently working towards my black belt with my club back home. My favourite thing about Durham University is the college system which is how I met my friends and course mates! After Durham, I’m hoping to become a solicitor in employment or family law.
Emily
University College Birmingham
Prosthetics for Film and Television, MA
From 2016-2018 I studied Art, Photography and Psychology A-Levels at Princethorpe College, Rugby, and after not being too sure of what I wanted to study at university I decided to throw myself into full time employment. I then came across the Specialist Hair and Media Make-Up course here at University College Birmingham and applied in 2020. Moving cities during the pandemic was very strange, however I soon became very comfortable at The Maltings where I lived with the majority of my classmates. After three years of study, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and I have now moved onto studying Prosthetics for Film and Television MA. Alongside the masters degree, University College Birmingham gave me the opportunity to work for them as an intern in the Marketing Department as part of the masters internship bursary scheme, where my course is paid for in the form of 400 hours of work over the academic year (September-July), which has been a huge benefit for myself financially. I also work as a part time front of house team member at a restaurant in Birmingham city centre, I enjoy this job a lot as I get to interact with lots of different people, I also feel very accepted there as I am free to express myself with my piercings, tattoos and makeup.

Esther
Bangor University
Medical Sciences
Starting medical school was both exciting and slightly overwhelming, as I fortunately received an offer through clearing. At Bangor University, I’ve learned that medicine isn’t just about studying—it’s about adapting, growing, and finding balance. While Bangor may not be the biggest city, its supportive atmosphere and hands-on learning made it a great place to begin my journey. With mountains to hike, lakes to explore, and breathtaking scenery all around, there’s always a way to escape the stress of studying. My time at Bangor has also given me the opportunity to explore nearby cities, allowing me to discover new places and fully enjoy the experience of traveling.
Outside of medicine, I stay active through athletics, enjoy cooking (and eating!), unwind with movie nights, and stay grounded through Bible study.

Msc Public Health
I began my career as a midwife in Ghana, where I had the privilege of supporting women and families during one of the most important moments in their lives. This hands-on experience in maternal and newborn care not only strengthened my clinical skills but also ignited my passion for improving people’s lives and contributing to positive change on a larger scale. I am currently pursuing this passion through the MSc Public Health programme at the University of Northampton. The university has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to design, implement, as well as evaluate policies and interventions that can improve maternal and child health outcomes at population levels.
To prospective students, your decision to study at the University of Northampton is an excellent one. You will have the opportunity to learn from dedicated lecturers, access comprehensive resources, and engage in a diverse, supportive academic community.
