I help run the theatre arts society, planning games nights, themed dress up nights and much more for anyone who loves theatre! I am also greatly involved in student life, in my roles as student ambassador, student representative and peer mentor. I love supporting my peers have the best time at Essex! In my third year I completed a year studying at the University of Windsor in Canada, making amazing friends, adapting to a new education system and of course travelling. I grew up in a vibrant city along the Yangtze River in central-southern China, where I developed a strong interest in finance and technology. After earning my degree in Accounting, I worked at China Merchants Bank, the largest joint-stock commercial bank in China, gaining experience in fintech, credit analysis, and risk assessment.

Now, as a postgraduate student at Warwick Business School, I am exploring the intersection of digital innovation, AI, and business transformation. I am particularly passionate about AI-generated visuals and AI voice synthesis, having followed the field since the early Disco Diffusion era. I also love exploring emerging technologies and own VR devices, AR equipment, and AI-powered smart glasses, constantly experimenting with new innovations.

Beyond technology, I am a poetry enthusiast, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, William Blake, and Percy Bysshe Shelley. Their works fuel my creativity and curiosity.

Looking ahead, I hope to pursue a career at the intersection of AI, fintech, and digital transformation, leveraging emerging technologies to drive innovation in business. I have completed undergrad in the field of education of students with visual impairments in Turkey. After that, I have worked in a special education centre as a special education teacher for almost one year. When I was working, I won a scholarship. Thanks to the scholarship, an exiting adventure has started in my life. Thereafter, I have completed master degree at The University of Nottingham, which provided unforgettable experiences to me. Nowadays, I am in Plymouth and interested in doctoral studies about students with dyslexia. After I complete my studies, I will be academician at Marmara university in Turkey.

I am from a very small town in Ohio where nothing interesting happened, so traveling across the world to study in Glasgow has been a huge transition, yet the best thing I have ever done. I love the amazing people and the opportunity to explore Scotland as well as the rest of the world. 

After university, I am planning on becoming a psychotherapist where I will work in hospitals to help adolescents and young adults who are struggling with mental health or are in crisis. My main goal in life is to help those in need around me the best I can.

I currently study marine biology, and plan to pursue a career in conservation. I would love to work with a rescue and rehabilitation center as a rescue coordinator and care specialist, or as a diver for conservation and restoration projects around the world.

Alongside my coursework, I’m a member of the women’s rugby union. I absolutely love my team, and all the experiences I have through them (like Wednesday night socials)! Sport and society opportunities at Bangor are phenomenal, and I’d love to tell you all about them! We also have a multitude of volunteering opportunities, with truly something for everyone. Bangor can feel quite small, but between uni-sponsored opportunities, third-party events, and living on the doorstep of Eryri, there’s no reason you can’t have a vibrant time here.

Speech and Language Therapy

Hello :) my name is Kamila, and I am a second year master's student at the University of Essex, studying Speech and language Therapy. I come from Slovakia, however I completed my secondary education here in the UK. During my undergraduate studies in BA English Linguistics, I have been introduced to the module of clinical linguistics, in which I learnt about speech and language therapy. Since then I have been determined to become a paediatric speech and language therapist, as it will allow me to help and advocate for children with speech and language difficulties. My particular interest is in bilingual and multilingual children. I am enjoying my course, as I am able to learn many new skills, and put them into practice during various placements. 

I believe that the social life at Essex exceeds most universities in the UK. Thanks to its diversity, you will be able to join various societies depending on your hobbies and interests. This year, I am a vice-president of the Speech and Language Therapy Society. As a society we offer a variety of events, including guest speakers, revision sessions, social events, and our favourite annual summer ball! I am also a member of the Essex Blades Dance competition team, and I am really looking forward to the upcoming competition season.

I studied BSc Bioscience in London before deciding to come to Reading to pursue my passion in Cancer Biology. I want to be an aspiring cancer research scientist after graduating. As an English and Creative Writing student, I am passionate about becoming a screenwriter. My dream is to work for a video game company, like Riot Games or Bethesda, and help adapt their games into a television show; the new show Fallout is a wonderful example of this. I am also currently writing my creative final project as my own original screenplay based on the humour of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I am constantly in the middle of reading numerous books but these are some of my favourites: Brave New World, The Witcher series, Song of Ice and Fire, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. Some of my favourite video games: Legend of Zelda, Skyrim, Dragon Age, League of Legends, etc. Some of my favourite manga/anime: Sakamoto Days, Spy x Family, One Punch Man, My Hero Academia, Attack on Titan.
