Hi, I'm Alexandra and I'm a 2nd year Drama and Creative Writing undergraduate student at UEA. I'm Spanish/Bolivian but have lived most of my life in Bolivia. As someone with a passion for stage and screen, I chose the Drama and Creative Writing course at UEA to develop and acquire more skills that would allow me to succeed in my career path. I am particularly passionate about scriptwriting, acting and filmmaking, so in the future, I hope I can dedicate myself to all of them. I was previously studying graphic design in Bolivia, but I decided to apply to UEA to pursue my goals; however, I still dedicate some time to it because I love it. I also enjoy photography (especially nature photography), drawing and painting, writing and dancing.

Hello! 👋 I'm Alice, a student at the University of Essex currently pursuing an integrated masters in Tropical Marine Biology. I'm thrilled to be a part of the Unibuddy community as a Student Ambassador, where I can share my unique journey and experiences with you. Beyond the academic realm, I have a deep passion for invertebrates in the sea, including jellyfish and other odd looking creatures! Extra-curricular activities are where I find balance between academia and fun. Squash, running and scuba diving are sports that I truly enjoy. Growing up, I was privileged enough to only be surrounded by a lot of children within my family but also witness what children go through in the society, the mischief that they can get into and the social rejection that they might face. This made me develop an interest in children’s rights and their welfare. I have learnt more about social justice and child protection while studying at the university of Essex. My career goal is to work in the field of community development especially for the protection of children and creating safe environments for them as well as addressing the causes of criminal activities from a young age. I enjoy developing myself as a student, learning new skills and interacting with people. A favorite pastime of mine is reading, especially thrillers but I'm open to other genres as well. I'm originally from India, specifically from Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, and relish trying new foods and connecting with people from different cultures through their traditions :) Having grown up in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, that is the place I call home. The links I have to all these different places has given me a broader worldview, and allowed me to experience life from a different lens.

3rd year English Literature student currently finishing my studies at UEA and set to begin my MA in Archiving at UCL next year. Working towards a career in Archiving and Record Preservation. Particularly interests in Critical Theory and philosophy. Passionate about exploring the intersections between literature, politics, music, visual art and our collective histories. The written word is not dead or static but full of life which it gives to us, which is why I feel the study of Literature is so significant. I also enjoy creative writing as a way of developing my passion for reading, and enjoying an appreciation for my favourite books which is interactive and participatory. In my spare time I boulder at Rock Punk Climbing Cafe, located on Magdalen Street in Norwich, and Highball Climbing Centre, just a bus ride away from the City Centre. I love the element of problem solving involved in completing difficult routes and advancing towards harder challenges with a renewed set of physical and mental skills. I also find that Climbing is a sport that has helped me immensely around difficulties stemming from complete blindness in my left eye, such as strengthening depth perception and hand eye coordination. It is something I'd recommend very highly to anyone with impaired eye-sight (and everyone else too!) I am also well acquainted with the DSA process by virtue of my blindness so please do message me if you're curious or facing any troubles with regard to disability allowance and support! I have also skateboarded for a number of years and enjoy a street skate sesh or a trip to Eaton Park whenever I can :)
