Student life
Whatever your time with us has in store, it'll be one to remember, from meeting lifelong friends to gaining real-world experience on placement, or joining a club or society.
Run by students, for students, SUBU (Students' Union at Bournemouth University) is here to make your university experience better. It's where you make friends, find your voice, discover things to do, and get support when you need it. Where you take it from there is up to you: get involved as much or as little as you like.
SUBU's is dedicated to bringing you a huge range of clubs, groups and academic societies to try, so you can pursue your interests with like-minded people.
If you love to stay active, SportBU offers everything from classes in our fitness studios to team sport in the sports hall and access to the gym on our Talbot Campus. We also have a 65-acre multi-sports site at Chapel Gate. Together, these give our BU community a rich variety of places and spaces to compete, keep fit, and have fun.
Campus and facilities
We have two main campuses at Bournemouth University – Talbot and Lansdowne.
Our great teaching is complemented by industry-standard facilities and support. We offer fantastic collaborative working spaces. Laptops you can borrow by the hour. Beach hut themed Technobooths and well-stocked libraries for getting assignments done, and after a long day you can relax on our rooftop cafes to help you wind down.
Talbot Campus is home to state-of-the-art TV studios, editing suites, sound stage, audio studios, PC labs, screening room, a motion capture and green screen facility, and cross-faculty collaborative learning spaces.
Lansdowne Campus is mainly used by students in the Faculty of Health, Environment & Medical Sciences (HEMS). Our Bournemouth Gateway Building is home to simulation suites including an operating theatre, hospital wards, a maternity birthing room and residential flat for care scenarios – as well as an MRI scanner.
