Student life

Being a Bath Spa student means joining our close-knit community. It’s about bumping into friends on campus, embracing challenges and genuinely caring, and it's a community that you'll be part of long after you graduate, as one of our alumni.

Fancy living in a UNESCO World Heritage city rich in culture that offers all the music, literature, food and history you could ever need?

Our self-catered accommodation options at our Newton Park campus suit a variety of requirements and budgets. Halls of residence within the centre of Bath are supplied by third-party private providers such as Unite Students and iQ. Wherever you live, there's quick and easy access from all of our campuses into the city centre.

Our Students' Union is also here to help you make the most of your university experience. As well as lots of events to get involved with, you could also lead a campaign, join a club or society or make a change on campus.

What's it like to live in South West?
Check out our region guide

The South West of England is made up of seven counties, with key student cities including Bristol, Plymouth, Bournemouth, and Bath.

This largely rural corner of the world is a go-to for those seeking peace, tranquility, and mindfulness. That said, it also hosts Glastonbury – ideal if the festival is on your bucket list.

Cornwall, Dorset, and Devon are coastal favourites, with idyllic beaches and waves to test the bravest surfers.

Cider and cheese buffs will be more than content, with both produced locally. You can always walk it off in Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks – but watch out for the ‘Beast of Exmoor’, an elusive big cat spotted roaming the wild terrain since the 70s.

Campus and facilities

We have two main campuses located in Bath, both offering space to learn, explore, reflect, create or just hang out.

Our Newton Park campus has its very own woods, historic listed buildings and rolling fields. This natural beauty exists alongside our state-of-the-art TV studios, computer rooms, and study spaces found in the heart of the campus in the Commons building. Other facilities include ecological surveying equipment such as night vision wildlife cameras and a University Theatre with rehearsal and performance studios.

Our award-winning Locksbrook Campus is centrally located in Bath. The open-plan building has technical workshops surrounded by open, flexible studio spaces and large, open social areas. It boasts a permanent gallery for displaying students’ artwork and an art shop that promotes both student and graduate work.
