Student life

Whether your host university is Harper Adams or Keele, you’ll find plenty to do at each campus, with everything you need right on your doorstep – from food and drink venues to shops and sports facilities.

As a HKVS student, you’ll automatically become a member of both Students’ Unions, which host a wide range of events and big-name acts throughout the year. Whether you’re looking to compete in sport or try something new, clubs and societies are a great way to grow your confidence, develop new skills, and meet life-long friends. Both Keele SU and Harper Adams SU offer a variety of options, including several animal and veterinary related societies.

Beyond campus, nearby towns and cities such as Newport, Telford, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and Stoke-on-Trent offer cafes, bars, and a range of retail, leisure, and entertainment options. Both campuses are well connected to major cities including Manchester, Birmingham, and Liverpool.

The West Midlands is made up of Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, and Worcestershire. Its main cities are Birmingham, Coventry, and Wolverhampton.

It’s the most diverse part of the country behind London, with a proud multicultural history, from the birth of Two-Tone music in Coventry – a combination of Caribbean ska and English punk – to the Balti curry, courtesy of Birmingham’s Pakistani community.

Once the heart of heavy industry and manufacturing, and the inspiration for Peaky Blinders, Birmingham is one of the youngest cities in Europe, with over 40% under 25 years old.

Vet students will have access to this 494-hectare farm, which amalgamates all teaching, research and commercial operations, as well as the Companion Animal House, and Veterinary Education Centre.

Keele University

Keele’s beautiful 600-acre campus is one of the biggest in Britain, with accommodation, teaching buildings and facilities clustered around the centre. HKVS is based in Innovation Centre 8, which has a clinical skills laboratory and anatomy and pathology lab. The building is also home to an independent primary care-led veterinary practice, Garden Vets at Keele.

Whichever is your host site, you’ll find a range of accommodation types located on each campus.
