We have agreed to provide these statistics on your behalf, unless you tell us not to.
You may have recently received a letter from HEFCE detailing some of their requirements for aggregate data on applications and acceptances to courses subject to the health education funding reforms. This is to help them make an initial assessment of 2017-18 recruitment, and demand levels across the sector. The letter explains that these data will also be provided to the Department of Health, the Department for Education and Health Education England.
We’ve offered to supply these statistics on your behalf, if you’re happy for us to do so. Data on the 2016 admissions cycle, as well as regular updates throughout the 2017-18 admissions cycle, will be securely shared, and will cover applications and unique applicants, offers and rejects (as at the June deadline), firm and insurance replies and declines (as at the June deadline), and accepted applicants. This information will be split by subject groupings we have received from the organisations (details of which can be found in the letter from HEFCE), and there will be some splits by key student and provider characteristics, such as domicile, age and sex.
If you do not want us to provide the data on your behalf, please email arc@ucas.ac.uk (copying in HEFCE at recurrentgrant@hefce.ac.uk) to let us know. We will act on your instructions at any time and it will be effective from the next supply. If you let us know you don’t want us to provide the data on your behalf ahead of the first scheduled supply (by 3 November 2016), no data at all will be supplied.
If you have any queries about these statistics, or whether you are recorded as being one of the English providers understood to be teaching courses subject to the health education funding reforms, please contact us at arc@ucas.ac.uk.
As this supply is similar in nature to those provided to HEFCE for number control purposes, we’re treating it as an ‘opt-out’ supply to reduce administrative burden on providers. If you wish us to always require an active opt-in for such supplies, please let us know at arc@ucas.ac.uk.
