International Teachers’ and Advisers’ Conference 2020 – CANCELLED

Admissions tests

Friday 05 June 2020 09:55
Open to all

Summary

A number of course providers in the UK use admissions tests to help select applicants for places on competitive courses. This session seeks to help guidance counsellors through the maze of acronyms (UCAT, LNAT, BMAT, HAT, and PAT, to name a few), while giving information and advice on how you can support students through registration and preparing for the tests. The presenters will outline how universities use these tests in their admissions processes.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this session, delegates will:

  • understand the range of admissions tests required by universities
  • support applicants through registering for tests
  • gain an insight into the content and format of commonly required tests
  • understand how the results of admissions tests are used to admit students
