Summary
This session will address the psychological problems pupils/students face in learning.
It will distinguish between topic-based learning and learning from experience, and describe how difficulties with learning stem from problems in negotiating transitional stages in life, including the transition of school and FE into university.
In supporting emotional growth and competence in pupils/ students, the value-added benefit of including experiential and performative forms of learning alongside academic, theory-based curriculum is stressed.
