Hi, I’m Hannah and I am an undergraduate biochemistry student at the University of Essex. I loved biology and chemistry at A level which lead me on to choose my degree to find out about those subjects in more depth. 
I like drawing and reading. I also love music, my favourite artist is Adele. And I also like playing on my piano

I studied Biology, chemistry, maths and french for A levels and chose to do biochemistry at Warwick because of the opportunity to complete a paid research placement and complete your masters at the same time. I also love the campus vibes and felt very at home when I first visited. 

I am passionate about research, especially in the field of antimicrobial resistance. In the summer I will be conducting a research project using AlphaFold to model the Enzymes involved in the production of a gram-negative enterobacterial cell surface protein called the O-antigen polysaccharide. The aim of the research is to build more accurate 3D models of the enzymes involved and test different ligands to see if they can act as inhibitors. These can then be tested for the ability to form novel antibiotics. 

My career ambitions are not that clear to me yet. After my Industrial Masters I would I may want to go into a research role. However, I also have a passion for finance, so I am currently gaining experience in this industry alongside my degree so to have as many options as possible for the future.

I’m a Bangor University student studying Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, despite not taking any science A-levels—proof that anything is possible if you follow your passion! My volunteer work at a local Owl sanctuary has sparked a deep interest in birds of prey, especially owls, and I hope to pursue a career in this field. I also manage social media for Greener Gwynedd (a university volunteer group) and volunteer with local wildlife groups, gaining hands-on conservation experience. Outside of uni, I love hiking and exploring the nature around North Wales, listening to music (especially Noah Kahan), reading, and playing video games.

I’m very passionate about the natural world and prefer to be outside rather than in. I’ve lived in the Northeast of England my entire life so moving across the country was a big life change, but it’s been entirely worth it! Following this course my ideal career would be one in ornithology or working with populations of endangered wild birds, which I’m very enthusiastic about and love to observe and photograph them whenever I can.

During my time at Lancaster, I've completed a placement year at Vertex Pharmaceuticals and a summer internship in the university labs. I've loved my time at university so far, highlights include watching the ducks on campus, losing pub quizzes, and going out for food with my friends!
