Hi, I’m Susanna
 I’m in my 2nd year at City studying Sociology & Criminology, I really enjoy this course. Criminology, with its focus on crime, law, and justice, has been a particular passion of mine. I’ve delved into the psychological and sociological factors that contribute to criminal behavior, as well as the societal responses to crime. My research often intersects with issues of social justice, exploring how policies and practices in the criminal justice system impact different communities. Outside of academia, I’m deeply engaged in activities that enrich my understanding of the world around me. I enjoy volunteering with organizations focused on criminal justice reform, where I can see firsthand the real-world implications of the theories I study. This hands-on experience is something I believe is crucial for anyone interested in this field.

I’m a second-year international student at the University of Essex (Colchester Campus), originally from the vibrant country of Zambia. My educational journey has taken me across Southern Africa, with my O Levels in Zimbabwe and A Levels in South Africa, giving me a rich and diverse perspective both inside and outside the classroom.

Beyond my academics, I’m passionate about sports, fitness, wellness, entrepreneurship, and community engagement—I believe in living a balanced life and giving back to those around me. Hi I’m Tee! I currently am heading into my second year of my degree (but third at UWE as I took a foundation year in social sciences). I’m very interested in Criminal Psychology, the way substances influence an individual’s behaviour, but also the forensic investigation that comes along with it all. I love how multidisciplinary the Criminolgoy degree is at UWE, and how it’s enabled me to explore my passion from such a vast range of angles and perspectives. I didn't have much of an idea as to what to do when I first entered university and it can be hard to discover your own path when so many people around you are lauding what they think is the best thing to do. My advice to you all is to try every opportunity that is presented to you. You can drop that which is uninteresting to you, but often you can never again pick up an opportunity that passes you by. Remember that a university degree is not important because of what it teaches you, but because of what kind of person it makes you, so if you ever find yourself debating whether to be a room hermit and do nothing but work or to get out there and make the most of everything available to you, just keep this question in mind: "What will I remember in 10 years' time?" or for the careers orientated amongst you, "What will I be able to talk about in an interview?". Let's face it, your work will probably be uninteresting to employers and to your future self, but if you want to make university something special, there are resources out there that can make it so and I will happily introduce you to them. Personally, I have been around Australia, attended defence conferences in Sicily, done military exercises in Scotland and on the Channel, worked with charities and have done too many extra courses and practical activities too count, all of which precious few people ever know about.
