Sussex's green, spacious campus, set in a National Park, is only 10 minutes from the centre of the vibrant city of Brighton. There’s a London-style buzz to Brighton, but you can easily take a break by walking in the South Downs or relaxing at the beach.

Brighton has no shortage of entertainment. There are several concert halls, a football stadium, comedy and theatre venues as well as sport/leisure facilities. 

The beach is a wonderful hangout that can bring real wellbeing benefits. Stroll on the prom, visit the pier, or watch the starlings at dusk putting on their aerial display. 

Brighton is a treasure trove of quirky cafés, pubs and independent stores surrounded by colourful street art. Cuisine is wide-ranging with plenty of vegan options.  

Brighton is home to the biggest arts festival in England – the Brighton Festival – and one of the UK's most highly regarded new music festivals, the Great Escape.

South East England is made up of nine counties, with popular student cities in Brighton & Hove, Oxford, Portsmouth, Reading, and Southampton.

The area sees plenty of sunshine and Brighton – the LGBTQ+ capital of the UK – is a student favourite, with tons of quirky shops, cafes, arts, nightlife and watersports.

Moving east into Kent, you'll find the charming towns of Whitstable, Broadstairs, and Margate – all bursting with literary history – plus the iconic landmarks of Dover’s white cliffs and Canterbury Cathedral.

London is an hour or two away for gigs, theatre trips and capital city adventures, while the country’s two largest airports – Heathrow and Gatwick – mean international journeys are easy to get started.

On campus, I have been involved with the Formula Student team, Sussex Racing, and was the Commercial Director. I have also been the Co-Captain of the University's Women's Volleyball team for the past two years. When I have the opportunity, and the weather permits, I enjoy hiking around campus in the South Downs.

    My name is Emma Jade and I'm a 22-year-old Swedish-Malaysian student currently studying Medical Neuroscience. I've also spent a lot of my time growing up in China! When I graduate I'm hoping to go into policy reform and/or the civil service. I had an unusual journey in university - I started out studying Medicine at BSMS to become a doctor until I realised that wasn't for me, and now I'm finally studying what I want to and I couldn't be happier with my decision. When I'm not doing sciency things I love engrossing myself in art - whether that's writing poetry and music, or taking a day trip to London to see an art exhibition at the Tate Modern!

    Hi, I’m Gabriel and I’m a first year Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence student. I have always been obsessed with computers and knew I wanted to go into the industry from quite a young age. University was the obvious choice to me; it gave me a good path towards my future career and the whole aspect of it appealed to me. The best thing about university is being able to study a subject you're passionate about surrounded by others who feel the same. I am still unsure as to exactly which area of computer science I want to go into, but this is common, and I still have a few years of university left to help me figure this out.
