Student life

Nottingham city is vibrant, diverse and well catered to students. We have over 270 student societies and clubs, and excellent wellbeing and support facilities.

“My favourite thing about Nottingham is having this large, beautiful campus where there’s so much nature, and a city centre which isn’t too overwhelming but there are always events on. The balance of the city and the campus just really appeals to me.” - Fran. English Literature and Creative Writing.

“The best thing about living in halls is being surrounded by a diverse range of students who are all in the same boat as you, which makes it easy to make new friends, as well as how close I am to my lectures.” - Rojhat. Aerospace Engineering.

“My favourite thing about Nottingham is having the opportunity to get involved in so many different sports, societies, organisations, etc. My life at the University of Nottingham never gets boring and I enjoy seeing different people every day.” - Laetitia. Life Sciences.

What's it like to live in East Midlands?
Check out our region guide

The East Midlands comprises five counties, with its main cities being Derby, Leicester, Lincoln and Nottingham.

The region has plenty of history, boasting both the world’s first factory and its first pub (allegedly). It also has many castles, cathedrals and stately homes, including Chatsworth House, which has served as the backdrop to period films like Jane Eyre and Pride and Prejudice.

And, of course, you’ll find the gorgeous Peak District here. If you end up studying in the East Midlands, definitely make a trip to explore its rolling green hills, peatlands, and quaint market towns – like Buxton, the caverns of Castleton, and Bakewell (home of the famous tart).

Campus and facilities

We have three stunning UK campuses, University Park, Jubilee and Sutton Bonington, as well as our two international campuses in China and Malaysia.

“My favourite places to study are probably the Djanogly Library on Jubilee Campus, because I love the architecture of the building and that it is set within the lake, and the Monica Partridge Building because it is really modern, full of light, and the study spaces are really comfortable.” - Laetitia. Life Sciences.

“As a student of Computer Science, my exposure to various facets of Artificial Intelligence has been fun. The cutting-edge technology available at the university which we are exposed to equips us with what is coming in the future, at our workplaces.” - Soumya, Computer Science.
