What does a barista do?
Baristas make and serve coffee in shops, cafés, coffee shops and restaurants. You’ll need excellent communication and customer service skills for this role, as you’ll be dealing with a variety of customers. You’ll be working indoors, usually to a shift pattern.
What do I need to do to become a barista?
You do not need any specific qualifications to become a barista, though customer service, retail experience or catering and hospitality experience are highly desirable.
A course in hospitality and catering, for example, would provide some useful experience. It may also be possible to start work through an apprenticeship.
