Experience a taste of postgraduate study with our London Met Lab: Empowering London lecture series. During these sessions you’ll be able to participate in a taster lecture delivered by one of our postgraduate academics and engage in a lively discussion and debate with fellow students.
Wed 28 April 2021 - 15:00 to 16:30

Join Dr Robin West, course leader for our Safeguarding and Security MA, to explore critical perspectives of safeguarding, vulnerability and risk. Today, many live in what can be called “vulnerable” times. Society is faced with new categories of vulnerable populations as social trends emerge, often provoking political contestations.

During this lecture we’ll explore what it means to define “vulnerability” and the “vulnerable person”. We’ll also consider some of the challenges faced by policy makers and civil society through a case study of child migrants.

This online session will begin at 3pm with a presentation and taster lecture. After that, you’ll have the opportunity to ask Robin any questions and also participate in a group discussion on any of the key topics raised.
