University of EssexFilm StudiesI am a second-year PhD student in Film Studies, with a research focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence and documentary filmmaking, particularly through the use of oral histories. My work explores how AI can be applied to enhance and transform traditional documentary storytelling, examining both its creative potential and ethical considerations. I’m especially interested in how AI can help preserve and interpret personal narratives, expanding the ways we capture and share human experiences. My goal is to push the boundaries of documentary film by integrating innovative technologies while respecting the rich history of the genre. Gaowa
University of East Anglia UEAFilm, Television and Media StudiesAs a second-year Film and Television Studies student at UEA, I am passionate about visual storytelling and its cultural impact. My studies focus on film theory, production, and cinema history, while I also explore filmmaking and creative collaborations outside the classroom. I aim to pursue a career in film production or screenwriting. My academic foundation and creative drive inspire me to contribute to the evolving world of cinema. I’m eager to connect with like-minded individuals and explore opportunities that align with my passion for storytelling and filmmaking. Charlie
University of Wales Trinity Saint DavidFilm & TV (MArts, BA)I came to this degree as a mature student having done a Higher Education access course, and chose to study at UWTSD Swansea because its Film & TV course is ranked the best in Wales. My main creative passion is writing and I intend to use the skills that I develop in this degree to become a screenwriter when I graduate. Emily
University College BirminghamProsthetics for Film and Television, MAFrom 2016-2018 I studied Art, Photography and Psychology A-Levels at Princethorpe College, Rugby, and after not being too sure of what I wanted to study at university I decided to throw myself into full time employment. I then came across the Specialist Hair and Media Make-Up course here at University College Birmingham and applied in 2020. Moving cities during the pandemic was very strange, however I soon became very comfortable at The Maltings where I lived with the majority of my classmates. After three years of study, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and I have now moved onto studying Prosthetics for Film and Television MA. Alongside the masters degree, University College Birmingham gave me the opportunity to work for them as an intern in the Marketing Department as part of the masters internship bursary scheme, where my course is paid for in the form of 400 hours of work over the academic year (September-July), which has been a huge benefit for myself financially. I also work as a part time front of house team member at a restaurant in Birmingham city centre, I enjoy this job a lot as I get to interact with lots of different people, I also feel very accepted there as I am free to express myself with my piercings, tattoos and makeup.
