Accenture, a leading graduate recruiter, is working with UCAS Media to show its recruitment potential to 250,000 young students in the ‘CareerZone’ at UCAS conventions across the UK.

UCAS Media, the commercial arm of the university admissions service UCAS, offers graduate employers the opportunity to get in touch with thousands of students through its unique database and at UCAS conventions.

Accenture will be interacting with Year 12 students and their teachers in the CareerZone, at a stage when young people are making key decisions about their future.

Over 250,000 students in Year 12 attend each of the 50 higher education UCAS conventions around the country every year.

Rachel Lish, Head of UCAS Media said: “It was a fast and exciting 12 months for UCAS Media within this space. Early engagement is becoming increasingly important for anyone looking to recruit the best graduates. So, we have a unique and interesting proposition to help employers connect with people just as they are making their early career choices. We’re thrilled to be working with high calibre clients like Accenture.

“UCAS Media has great relationships with graduate employers and we’ve proved that our channels work. We are now extending our reach to allow recruiters to connect with students at all stages of their journey. There are certainly exciting times ahead.”

Jess Grundy, Accenture’s Graduate Recruitment Lead in the UK and Ireland, said: “Working with UCAS is an excellent opportunity for Accenture to meet and talk to students who may not have initially considered a career in consulting as an option for them. It also enables us to encourage young people to think about studying STEM subjects and to show them the kind of careers that are available.”

UCAS has run higher education conventions for over 20 years and in March 2012, the new CareerZone was trialed. A select few employers across different sectors were invited to speak to young students (aged 16 to 17)about employment. This included options such as apprenticeships, school leaver programs, internships, sponsored degrees and graduate schemes.

An overwhelmingly positive response from the exhibiters, as well as students and teachers means that CareerZone is now integrated into the UCAS events calendar.
