Please note this is a Virtual Event. The first of three webinars will focus on the Windrush Generation of 1948 – 1970, where 500,000 people moved from the Caribbean to Britain after the second world war to rebuild post-war Britain. The importance and influence of this generation not only lies in their ginormous contribution to Britain post-war, but also to British culture, language and music. We will be exploring how this generation and the sound system/dancehall culture that they brought with them has influenced UK genres such as grime, jungle and acid house before that.
