At UHI we can offer a variety of routes into a teaching career:

With a degree** you can apply to our Professional Graduate Diplomas in Education (PGDE) which you can study full time primary and secondary (provided you meet the subject entry requirements) or part time primary and secondary, and also for Gaelic pathway primary and secondary teaching, if you speak Gaelic fluently.*

With Highers fast-track your move into teaching by joining UHI’s four-year teaching degrees:

+ BA (Hons) Food, Nutrition and Textiles Education studying at our Perth campus, or
+ Study from anywhere in Scotland on our BA (Hons) Moral and Philosophical Studies with Religious Education
+ BA (Hons) Gaelic and Education studying at our Stornoway or Sabhal Mòr Ostaig campus in years 1-2 with the option of online study years 3-4
+ BSc (Hons)Technological Education studying at our Perth campus

The event will be hosted by UHI programme leaders Judith Munro, Lindsay Nicol, Gwen NicGuaire, Kirstie Burn, Mark Lindley-Highfield, Shona Cormack and Heidi Hope and will cover:

+ An introduction to UHI's teacher education programmes
+ Overview of PGDE, Food, Nutrition and Textiles, Moral and Philosophical Studies with Religious Education programmes, Gaelic and Education** and Technological Education
+ How you’ll learn, how to apply and how placement opportunities work
+ Frequently asked questions
+ Audience questions
*You must also hold National 5 Maths and English at Higher level or equivalent. For Gaelic medium options you must be a fluent Gaelic speaker and able to read and write in Gaelic. See our course web pages for full entry requirements. Part-time study is not available for Gaelic medium PGDE
**Please note that these courses are subject to accreditation by the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
